4 eyes x 9 = a rout.

Wow! What a game! A slew of new kickballers joined the league this weekend, resulting in a full squad 9 on 9 game - there were fielders everywhere! As a result, a new position was born:

crowder: Pronunciation Key (KROUD-er)
n.

1. Someone who stands close enough to another person to cross into their personal space.
2. (Alt)see: Kickball: Position(s) to left/right of pitcher bewteen first/third and the pitchers mound, designed to crowd the kicker and shit-talk them into making an out.

We also had the first legit triple and home runs of the year as the regular "doubles only" rules were lifted due to the availability of more players. Beginning with a tight low scoring game in the early innings, the 20/20 vision team took a commanding lead early on and shut down the near/far-sighted 36 eye team to end with a 13-5 victory.

Keep this and future games in mind for this years Kickies™! The competition for the coveted awards looks to be heating up!

Here's a story about WAKA kickballers. Know your enemy.

From the article:
"Scores of independent leagues —whose players often show up for games wearing antlers, throw water balloons during a dull inning and use a Slip 'N Slide instead of a base—are holding weekly practices and games from Seattle to Brooklyn."

Dull innings? We never have dull innings!

This weekend marked the return of Robert and Trevor back from the non-kickball-playing lands somewhere over the Atlantic. Huzzah! The day's game was hotly (and sticky-ly) contested bout between the SNAKES and SAMUEL L. JACKSON (SAM L.J.) The SAMs went out to an early lead 6-0 after one inning, but those MOTHERFUCKIN' SNAKES just would not go down! They kept at it with some great hustle and superb plays.. The playing field, or "plane", as it were, seemed to have a snake at every base! By the end of 7 innings, the SNAKES led 9-7! Pushing to the full nine innings for the first time in a long while, the game ended with the same energy, excitement and fun as the upcoming film, Snakes on a Plane. The SAMS headed into the bottom of the ninth trailing 9-8, but would emerge with an 10-9 victory after some doubles, sacrifices and some snake-handlin' teamwork. Finally, after a long day... those motherfuckin' snakes got off that motherfuckin' plane.
